Analysis of a Title Sequence

Since for our main task we were given the job to create a title sequence, we were instructed to view some current title sequences of movies and to analyse one.
The title sequence I have chosen to analyse is for the movie The Final Destination;
Right from the get go, blood is splattered over the screen, throughout the sequence you see numerous highly unlikely deaths happening which is a key convention of the Final Destination series. The fast paced title sequence really is a gore fest which just ups the excitement for the movie itself, the fast paced tempo of the music used also helps in making the title sequence not only enjoyable to watch but a memorable part of the movie itself. The sequence is incredible sharp and shocking, the dim colors give it a thrilling appeal while the sound effects that accompany the different types of deaths and methods use give it a slight realism that slightly freaks you out.
The title sequence creates a lot of exciting intense atmosphere that really sets the bar high straight away for the movie, it communicates back the the audience that this film is going to be wild, bloody, hilarious (at times) and thrilling. The different everyday tools that are used to kill the "people" in the opening title sequence gives it a shocking feel that slightly scares you into thinking "next time I use the drill I could possibly kill myself". Giving audience members a basic fear of everyday items is a great scare tactic, it passes on the message that anything and everything could kill you.
The sequence is a great set up to the movie, it heightens our awareness factor of everything around us, shocks and thrills us as well as subtly telling us this is going to be a fast paced bloody movie. I personally think the creators of the title sequence did a great job in setting up the vibe and feel of this movie.
